Certificate of registration of the society "Baradaran-name".

Isfahan. On the square Nagshe Jahan.
Yazd. On the Tower of Silence.
Yazd. At the temple Atesh Vare Heram Yazd.
Yazd. At the hotel.

Our Iranian Library.

“Baradaran-name” – Society of Friends of Iran

Once, six years ago, in early 2012, my wife and I were solving a pleasant question – where to spend the upcoming vacation? The daughter successfully graduated from the academy and already received an invitation to work, and for the first time in several years, we had money for a long journey. Looking through the stories of tourists, I paid attention to Iran. It was written about it as an interesting and inexpensive country, hospitable and safe.
I myself was born in the south of the once great country – in the city of Tashkent, the “Capital of Friendship and Heat”, as it was then sung in a famous song. Studying in the evening school combined with the most interesting work – in the archaeological detachment. The young scientist Edvard Rtveladze, now a world-famous historian and archaeologist, Academician, Senator in the Parliament of the Republic of Uzbekistan, supervised the detachment. Then I fell in love with the East and its history. For life …

– To spend a vacation in Iran?
The wife objected loudly and categorically:
– Yes, there is war and terrorism! We will be kidnapped and sold into slavery! I will not go and I will not let you go! …
Alas! With the result of years of anti-Iranian false propaganda, no, no, and even today:
“Go to Iraq?” Yes, there is war!
“Not to Iraq, but to Iran.”
– What’s the difference? There are war and terrorism everywhere …
… A few months later the issue of our trip to Iran was difficult but resolved. True, it is not very democratic – as a gift from me on my birthday, my spouse got an air ticket – to Tehran and back …

In Iran, we stayed for twenty days.
Without any-different travel agencies. Themselves. In Isfahan and Yazd.
It was September and not warmly in Riga. We walked along the streets of the fairytales “A thousand and one nights”. Enjoyed the smell and taste of the paradise fruits. And around us were townspeople, ordinary Iranians – beautiful and kind, attentive and hospitable, proud and not always understandable, but for some reason surprisingly close.
One event literally struck us.
We are in Isfahan. This is our first day in Iran. Leaving things in the hotel, we go to the nearest bank to change money. The employee of the bank unexpectedly reports:
– It is not profitable for you to change dollars in a bank, it is better to do it in a firm.
And somewhere goes. While we look at each other with a grumpy look at each other, she returns:
“There’s a car waiting for you on the street.” Our employee will take you to the company.
The wife of a death grip grabs my hand and almost cries:
– I told you! Will deliver! We will not return home! Children will not see again. I will not go!
Looking around and pretending, I reassure:
– Look: the driver is almost a boy. Here is the city centre. Working day. We’ll scream, we’ll beat the glasses in the car. They will not let us kidnap, they’ll save us. Let’s take a risk?
“Firms” for currency exchange on the nearest to the Nagsea Jahan street was a few. It turns out that on the eve of our arrival in Iran, the dollar sharply jumped here. And as at one time, we had two exchange rates: state-in-banks and “bazaar” – in “firms”. The difference is almost forty percent.
In the evening, tired and impressed by the many wonders of Isfahan, we are discussing this super-profitable “cenche” of dollars for the real. We decide – the “banker” should be rewarded. Let’s give her a big box of ours, Riga sweets. In the morning we are back in the bank. I present the “banker” with sweets, I thank and ask:
– Explain – why you sent us, your customers, to your competitors? That is, they gave their legitimate profits?
The answer was brief and we are absolutely incomprehensible then:
– You are our guests …

Much later, in Moscow, the essence of these three words was clarified by Dr Reza Sajjadi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Russia:
“The guest is sent by God.” To offend or deceive a guest is to insult the Highest…
And now I will reveal to you the most important conclusion that we made on that trip. Although I myself am Orthodox, and my wife is Catholic, that’s when we realized the simple truth: the Iranians are our brothers and sisters. Elder and wiser …

At home, telling friends and acquaintances about our trip to Iran, I was no longer surprised by their meagre and distorted information about this country: we ourselves were like that. And then, and not immediately, reading most of the “solid” media reports about Iran and comparing it with what they saw, came the understanding that dark and very evil forces had taken up arms against this beautiful country and its wonderful people …
… And once my wife and I decided to intervene – we need to bring people the truth about the Islamic Republic of Iran. We wrote the Charter and on August 15, 2013, the Register of Enterprises of the Republic of Latvia registered a new public organization – the Latvian Society of Friends of Iran. They called our society “Baradaran-name”, that is, the “Brothers’ Book.” For we are Slavs and Aryans are fraternal peoples.

The Society of Friends of Iran was conceived as an organization in Latvia. But very soon life made its amendment. Sincere interest in Iran, the desire to be a friend of this country and with time to see the present day of the ancient Persian civilization with their own eyes, as shown by the inhabitants of Russia and Ukraine, Armenia and Georgia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, England, Bulgaria and even at the edge of the world – in far New Zealand. Now, the residents of 14 states are the actual members of the “Baradaran-name” society and take the feasible part in its activities. Moreover, our good friends and Friends of Iran became even “the powers that be” – the deputies of the European Parliament from Latvia Andrei Mamykin and Miroslav Mitrofanov, and from the Parliament of Latvia – Martin Schitz and Inguna Sudraba.
Today we are more than four hundred people!

Being engaged in interesting business, it is impossible most to not study well. And with time traditions are born. They also appeared in our country.
How wise, for example, to gather in the house of the oldest member of the family for the Shab-e-Yalda holiday – on the longest and darkest night of the year. That warmth that the young will bring to the old will warm them all the long year …
Or everyone can sit down at a festive table decorated with the first spring flowers for the Novruz holiday. Previously, we somehow did not exist …
And our friends-newlyweds now remember distant Iran even on the holiday of the creation of a new family …
It’s not the first year, on the eve of the Islamic Revolution Day, we’re going together – we remember our trips to Iran, we honour the memory of the heroes who gave the most precious life for the freedom of the people …
And a completely new tradition – on the anniversary of the creation of the “Baradaran-name” society – to leave the capital. In the meantime, the first trip we climbed above all in Latvia – to Mount Gaizinkalns. And do not laugh that our mountain is only 312 meters high. For us, the main thing is that peaceful Iran itself with sincere friendship came to the Latvian land …

For the years of the existence of “Baradaran-name”, we have collected a unique Iranian library for the Baltic countries. It has more than two hundred books, magazines, films and music, some of which are presented in a single copy and only with us. The libraries are readily used by members of our society, as well as by students-future historians, journalists, and political scientists.
There are a “Baradaran-name” society and its official website. It was launched and led by our British comrade Denis Kuzichkin. The site is easy to find at iranism.lv. And we duplicate publications from him on social networks, such as Facebook, Twitter, VK and Odnoklassniki. The number of our subscribers exceeds 1500, and the weekly coverage reaches 5000 readers.

One can and should write about Iran and tell about Iran. Competently, fascinatingly, illustrated. But still – this is not the main thing. Much more important is to see for yourself Iran – strong and proud, ancient and young, hospitable and kind, beautiful and mysterious. Exactly what it is. What is a sin to conceal – at relatively low prices in Iran itself, tourist vouchers here are unreasonably expensive. Therefore, the society “Baradaran-name” has developed and successfully tested its own tourist route, passing through the cities of Mashhad, Neyshapur, Yazd, Meybod, Isfahan, Hamadan and Laljin. Such a trip lasts 15 days and costs an average of 800 euros. This amount includes the cost of air tickets, visas, hotels, meals, travel and travel arrangements. We basically do not collect money from the traveller – he personally pays the necessary expenses for their fact, guided by the advice of the guide accompanying the group.
Over the past years, 24 members of the “Baradaran-name” in the 3 groups have visited Iran. And among them, there are already those wishing to visit Iran repeatedly – on a new route. And this is sure to be …
We invite you to Iran!
Together with us!

Although Latvia is a relatively small country, our experience, the experience of “Baradaran-name” society is unique in its own way.
For example, in early July, the All-Latvian Song Festival was held in Riga. Conducted since 1873, once in five years, the holiday becomes the most important event in the cultural life of the multinational people of Latvia. And this year we and our guests enjoyed the holiday twice – it coincided with the century of the formation of the Latvian state. For its beauty and uniqueness, our Baltic Song Festival is recognized by UNESCO as a masterpiece of the spiritual heritage of all mankind.
Maria Piri, the member of the Management Board of the Baradaran-Name Society, spent several days in the centre of Riga, meeting with the participants and guests of the holiday. That’s what she asked them about:
– Have you heard about the distant country of Iran?
– Do you believe that Iran – threatens the peace?
– Are you for the friendship of our peoples and our countries?
It was answered by individuals and couples, families and entire collectives. Responded Latvians and Russians, Byelorussians and Lithuanians, Finns and Germans …
The answers sounded different, but their meaning was one.
You, no doubt, will understand it, looking at the photos made by Maria …

… Another group of his friends from Latvia is going to fraternal Iran – this year there will be nine of them. Visas have already been received and a lot of trouble has begun before a distant and very interesting journey. And I suggest to think – is it not possible to create an analogue of the Society of Friends of Iran in your city or region?
We will share our experience with pleasure. For a start – our Charter:
